Reader Profile
I have created a reader profile to help me see what my target audience would like and be interested in I have collected information from girls and boys to see which gender I would appeal more to and age. From my research I have found that ages 18-20 in part time work or in a full job but with a love of film in mind.
I have created a Reader profile for a audience member, I have made it look official to my magazine. I chose colours that matched my colour scheme, I decided to choose Rebecca as she meets stands out as the best audience member she ticks all the boxes and I want to build my magazine around similar interests.

DPS progress
when starting my double page spread I opened up two other dsp pages and had them side by side. one was a national magazine dps and the other a regional magazine I tried to use layout from both when creating my page. It is different compared to y flat plan as I preferred to try out some different compositions.
I decided to open up the grid on photoshop to help me line up my pictures and article, when researching I found that articles are mainly written in columns even in regional magazines.
I had to measure my lines up very carefully to make sure everything was presented well.
opening word I copied and pasted parts of may article in there to make sure I had no spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes. Furthermore I opened my article draft from my website and copied some parts over to my magazine to create synergy in my work.
Draft article
"It isn’t a film about wanting to hide or run away it’s a film about
getting out there and seeing what’s beyond the small horizon”
-Adam Stew.
We have recently watched Escape The Waves and will be having
screening days for this movie at local cinemas, we think that this
film will do great why? well let us tell you why. The film has a
great set of directors a great story and a great feel overall, and it’s
representing Seaburn which is part of our area. Wemasked Adam
Stew why he chose Seaburn and this is What he said “Me and me
brother used to go down to that very beach and play in the sand
and sea it is a big part of our childhood. We think that the film will
be successful because of its destination, people will resonate with it
more seeing an area represented positively. The film is about
spreading your wings yes but it is also about remembering where you
came from and where you call home. I think the main actor Megan
Ward did a fantastic job in the role of Erica March she is a very strong
up and coming actor. We did have a few minor problems with the film
being the male actor Nick Slater who played Ethan, his accent did
seem like it mixed well with the others being he didn’t sound like he
was from the area a canny let down. We asked Adam Stew the ideas
and Creativity in Escape The Waves. "SeaBurn beach plays a big role
in the film. If you pay close attention the sea reflects the mood weather
the tide is in or out. The sea is a metaphor of Erica feeling trapped,
if the tide is in we see her at her worst and when its out she is a lot
more confident and energetic. We chose to film at Seaburn as i is a
well known place, It's where we all went as children to play and we
even have aspects of our child hood in this movie. We wanted to
include some real life problems in this film to help connect to the
audience, some teenagers ages 17-20 feel a bit out on the way into
adult hood and sometimes feel trapped, we used Erica's dream to can'
t happen because of her disorder and we want to reach
out to those teenagers who also feel trapped and want a way out.
We incorporated proper advice and help lines in this movie as well.
"-Adam Stew"I think it's hard for woman to get into the film industry
not a lot of girls are interested and I think the main reason is lack of
creativity all the recent Hollywood films have many similarities, good
guys, bad guys, happy ending, unrealistic gun fights, cheesy motives.
I think our film has no real villain because in life you will find a auntie
March who comes across as mean and uncaring but like, there is
always a reason behind them being that was which doesn't make t
hem necessarily evil"-Pepper Black.
We noticed this film is quite dark not just in themes but in lighting
most lighting used is low key the shadows are prevalent in almost
every scence its night time a lot at the beach its dark. We made a
guess to this might be relating to Erica’s sleeping habits maybe its
always night time for her because she is always sleeping or its the
spiral of darkness they are trapped in unable to see the light. Pepper
Black said she wouldn’t give any hints as they wanted to keep some
things secret or for the fans to figure out,There is also a bunch of
easter eggs in the movie if you can spot the, leave them on our twitter
page but only after screening dates so no spoilders please. We think
Escape The Waves is a great movie and a must see it has gotten a
tone of great reviews and will be airing at Tyne side cinema and
Costumes house. Pepper and Leon will be at the event to take any
questions after the Film is screening on Friday so any die hard P.A.L
fans can ask away, Pepper and Leon are both from up here so please
diven't be shy. You can access the tickets in the links bellow and get
a 10% discount if you buy 4 or more in one order.
I have complete changed the article on the second page as i feel like this fit the magazine better, I changed it to a Q&A after getting inspiration from Sight & Sound magazine. i also moved the layout around as well so add more text and delete back to my sticky not reviews from other people.

Contents page progress
When creating my contents page I had photoshop and my website side by side to compare them, making sure I have the same font, the same text making sure they both looked well together. I also went back and looked at my deconstructions tab and looked at my pontoon I made, I used the contents page Sussex Style to help me design a suitable regional magazine contents page.
I decided to change the Numbers of the features, the images and the font size as it didn't work together in my opinion. I was referring back to Sussex Style and their layout was a lot neater so I decided to change a few things.
I pulled up my contents page from last year to see which features I left out I noticed I didn't have and editors note and an Issue number so I looked at Sussex Style and they do not have an editors note. Regional magazines appear not to include and editors note therefore I shall not as it goes against the codes and conventions. I also noticed that the issue date was at the bottom of the page next to the page number.

Font Idea change
when creating my website I discovered a font called Avenir Light I thought it looked really professional and clear to read so I stuck with this font thought out my website, unfortunately when it came to creating my magazine photoshop didn't have this specific font I wanted to use as I wanted to create synergy between the 3 creations. i found a website called Cufonfonts.com and was able to download the font and use it on photoshop.

Article draft
For all my articles I need to keep in mind I am writing a regional magazine so I want it to remain regional including this such as: Dialect including words only used by this region, Like, canny, aye, diven't". Also references to local land marks and places in the North East like: Seaburn beach, Shields beach, NewCastle city centre, Sunderland city centre. I also want to reference this film lovers would understand like: being independent, the creativity behind a movie, references to Holly Wood. I have typed up my first draft for my Website article reason being I can have a look over it make changes and get it checked out before final submission.
"It isn't a film about wanting to hide or run away its a film about getting out there and seeing what is beyond the small Horizon" -Adam Stew.
Escape The Waves is a new movie created by the film company P.A.L Productions for those of you who don't know P.A.L was created in 2012 and was set up by Pepper Black, Adam Stew and Leon Stew. The company wanted Create films that people could connect with and resonate with "We want to widen he audiences eyes not because the final villain was killed but the villain was presented in a human like way"- Adam Stew. They have created such art works: A Life With Me, Everyone Dies and John.
There most Recent work was Escape The Waves a film that has really Caught our eyes. The Film focuses around a relationship between 3 syblings, 2 blood related and 1 not. The problem is they have no clue who isn't blood related and with their mothers passing they have no start. Their auntie was sent to look after them, a cold woman who is unapproachable mainly because of her abusive and neglected childhood tries to push her beliefs on to the 3 siblings. Erica March is the oldest, she is reserved and suffers with neurological disorder but still wants to make the most of her life. Her brothers Paul March wants his and Ericas dreams of moving to london and being a film star which their auntie March thinks is ludicrous, Their auntie has a secret which involves her being in debt and needs the money of taking care of the children before they turn 18 to pay it of which is why she won't let them escape. Ethan Is hell bent on finding out who is not the blood related sibling where as Erica and Paul just except each other and don't want to find out.

Website Progress
This is a screen shot I have taken of my website, When starting I added titles of the things I thought were most important for a film website and what other film websites like Tyne Side and Costumes House have used. I have the titles Film reviews where i list and rate sections of reviews with a read more option like a film website. Latest films, I went out and took pictures and used them as if they were snip its from the films I have made up I have also wrote a paragraph underneath with a brief description of the movie. The main feature is at the top of the screen a big image of the lead actress and a snippet of the article will appear on every page.
I have continued to type out reviews as if they have been created by film fans they are not created by main stream critics as this is a regional magazine so allowing the public to review them creates a sense of community. I have also created a star system to make it look more authentic. I have created a latest new title were I will have 3 or 4 news stories and a read more option.
As students are normally on a budget with money I have created a subscribe section where they can subscribe yearly to this magazine instead of having to go out and by it, students and the younger generation prefer to do shopping online now rather than in the shops. I have also added to my news section including images of places around the North East and creating stories around them.
I have decided to change my lay out I no longer have a latest news section on the main page that is now a slide show, just like Tyne side cinemas website I have created a slide show to present news and offers in more creative ways. I have added more Latest films as that is the main focus of my magazine. I have also decided my magazine name to be Focus I might change it to Focus the North East or Focus to the North East to make it look more regional or have that as my slogan. I have changed the tabs to look more like a film website.
These screen shots are from a separate tab called Focus film, I decided to have a tab called Focus film as film fanatics would be interested to read more about upcoming films. The article contains text from the creators and how they came about thinking of the film idea and a description on what this film is about. I wanted to make it interesting for the reader instead of just writing out a Q&A or a whole block of text just explaining the movies plot. I felt like this page was to bland having a massive chunk of text and
only 2 pictures at the bottom. So i had a look at Tyne sides focus film, Daniel Blake.
They include a paragraph about the movie, some quote and screening times. I decided to set it out similar to link in with regional film websites. I think I will add the rating on this page and Social media sites to follow as younger people are interested in following social media sites.
